Hi, I’m Olivia Muscat, writer, performer and disability arts activist! My Middle Grade novel Annie and Maeve are Definitely Not Friends and picture book My Name Is Jemima, illustrated by the fabulous Allison Colpoys, are both available in all your favourite bookshops now!
Olivia Muscat is a writer, performer, speaker and disability arts activist working on unceded Wurundjeri land. Based in Narrm/Melbourne she writes stories that celebrate intersectional, disabled identities and the fun, colourful, weird parts of life.
Her first picture book, My Name Is Jemima, was released in June 2025, and her autobiographical play, Is Anyone Even Watching?, premiered at Arts House in October 2025 as part of Melbourne Fringe Festival, where it won two fringe awards.
Her debut novel, Annie and Maeve are Definitely Not Friends, was shortlisted for the Text Prize for children’s and young adult literature and was published by Fremantle Press in April 2026.
Her writing has featured in several notable anthologies and web publications, and she is known for her often funny, joyful and irreverent approach to disability politics.
